ROX Performance Academy offers Free music lessons at the Allegheny Elks Lodge.

The Rox Performance Academy is offering Free group and private lessons and using the huge ball room to hold performance events.

Rox Academy update:
The Rox Performance Academy Inc., a non-profit corporation, cont inues to use the third floor of the Lodge to conduct its Northside Youth Music Program on Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

In the current semester, there are 12 children (ages 6 to 12) enrolled in the program. This semester will end on March 16 with the children participating in the city’s St.Patrick’s Day Parade by performing several songs from a float.

In January, Rox began Phase Two of the project by expanding from using the small anteroom on the Third Floor to also using the Lodge’s Grand Hall. In February, the stage was cleaned up, with water-damaged ceiling material removed from the stage, and the children are now able to perform on the stage. Rox will be renovating the backstage room and will hopefully have it in usable condition before the next semester starts in April.

Rox can always use some help to expand and enhance the Youth Music Program. There is a need for help cleaning the Main Hall and cleaning and painting the backstageroom. There is also a need for people to assist with the Saturday program, from musicians lending a hand with the students to people simply volunteering to make sure that there is sufficient supervision of the children so that more individual instruction can take place.

If anyone is interested in volunteering, please contact:
