The Elks Magazine is published 10 times a year for the 1.2 million members of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the United States of America. With a grant of $100,000, the Elks National Foundation was established in 1928 as the charitable arm of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. Today, the charitable trust has net assets of more than $360 million. Donations to the principal fund are never spent. Only income from the trust can be used. This year, the Foundation appropriated $12.2 million in support of the Order's philanthropic programs including college scholarships, Hoop Shoot, Drug Awareness Program, National Veterans Service Commission and the Elks National Home.
