Tahlequah, Capitol of the Cherokee Nation, a wonderful place for Elks to live and roam free, as well as all other forms of wild life. Located in the foothills of the Boston Mountains with lots of streams, hills, trees, rivers, lakes and lush green growth. We are located in the heart of “Green Country.” Commonly touted as a great area for recreation and retirement.
If you have the opportunity, you should come to visit, especially during the summer. There are plenty of things to do and see, such as the Cherokee Trail of Tears Drama. Northeastern State University has two ‘Branson’ style musical playhouses, a Jazz Lab, a Performing Arts Theatre and other attractions. There is also an Elks Lodge where people have their Friday night dinners that are nationally (?) known for their great steaks, as well as karaoke and Saturday night dances. Of course we have a lounge that is open on Friday, Saturday and Wednesday evenings and also on Tuesday meeting nights.
If you like camping and water sports, we have the beautiful Lake Tenkiller and Illinois River, both with beautiful, clear water.
Lodge membership runs close to 300, but of course you won’t see all of us at any one given time. Some of stay well hidden in the hills and trees, but we would love to see you.
