The Order of Elks was originally founded in 1868 to serve their communities and to help those less fortuante in time of need. Our dedication to community service is the driving force behind the success of our many programs. With more than 2,000 Lodges in communnities across the nation, Elks offer many no-cost programs that help schools to provide a better education and more opportunities to enrich the lives of students.
At an Elks Hoop Shoot Free Throw Contest, local lodges work in cooperation with elementary or middle schools to create a noi-cost compoetition that's fierce, but fun. Since its origin in 1946, the Elks Hoop Shoot has grown to include more than THREE MILLION participants annuyally, making it the largerst co-educational sports program in the country.
The Elks aso pride themselves on furthering the education and experiences of our Youth through our scholarship programs.
The Elks National Foundation will award 500 four-year scholarships to the highest-rated applicants in the 2015 competition.
- Any high school senior who is a citizen of the United States is eligible to apply.
- Applicants need not be related to a member of the Elks.
- College students are not eligible to apply.
- Applicants must be citizens of the United States on the date their applications are signed; permanent legal resident status does not qualify.
- Male and female students compete separately.
The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks welcomes you to the resource center for the Elks National Drug Awareness Program - the largest volunteer drug awareness program in the United States. We are very proud of our dedicated army of volunteers who freely give their time and talents to this most noble cause. The Elks are committed to eliminating the use and abuse of illegal drugs by all members of society and believe that in order to ensure a bright future for our country, it is essential that our children be raised in a drug-free environment. http://www.elks.org/dap/
