Fellow Elk’s

It is my pleasure to announce the Elks Lodge 521, has fulfilled its pledge never to forget our Veterans. Our task to dedicate US 31 from Columbus, Indiana to Camp Atterbury has been achieved. Thanks to those of you who feel as we, to do all in our power to achieve a lasting tribute honoring those who have saved freedom and democracy for future generations as well as freeing foreign nations from tyranny, it can be said mission accomplished.

The plan of the Elks Lodge 521 is to hold a celebration inviting one and all on Flag Day June 14th. We will have in attendance local officials, the Atterbury post, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, State officials, Johnson County Officials and Elks Lodge Officials. The event will start with a flag ceremony and color guard at 1:00 P.M.

Those who wish to make comments to the public may do so by letting us know in advance and a time slot will be allocated for up to 5 minutes. The speaker should plan on arriving at the above address by 1:00 P.M. on the 14th of June. We anticipate the ceremony to take one hour to accommodate those who wish to make comments. Following the memorial ceremony a cookout will be served consisting of Brats, Corn and drinks.

Please check you calendars and respond as promptly as possible. To Anita Hancock Club manager whose phone number is (812) 379-4386 or email is anitahancock@sbcglobal.net We are finalizing plans to honor the local Police Department, Sheriff Department and Fire Departments on this same day for their contributions to our Community.
