Exalted Ruler Letter:
Several things are coming together. First if you have not seen our back yard, you are missing out on some great work in progress. Our new storage shed donated by myself is now in place thanks to Mark Murray, John Counceller and Brian Kiel. Many trees and flowers are in the ground with thanks going to Mabe Hutchins, Tina Warf, Brian Kiel and Tim Daupert. Dave Ransdale has put in black mulch around our new patio. Dave also helped clean up the back yard. Myself and a few others have donated most all the trees and flowers. Anita is responsible for the beautiful weeping cherry.

Now for the BIG news. Bill Pumphrey has completed his job of getting Hwy 31 renamed to Veterans Parkway, it only took him over 2 years. Great job Bill. It was no easy task. We are having a Flag day ceremony, Hwy dedication and a tribute to all the veterans on June 14th. The mayor and many other dignitaries will be in attendance. We are also giving thanks to our local police, sheriff and fire dept with a presentation of a plaque to each agency. After the ceremony we are having a cookout in our back yard with hot dogs, brats and corn on the cob. This is free to all police, fire, and veterans. Everyone else it will only be $3.00.

Our next open house and casino party is June 20th. Please bring a friend and attend. We made money the last time, but we had few members. This is how we can help keep your lodge above water. It really was a great fun event. This time it will be in the back yard with another cookout and several games along with the DJ. Please come and enjoy the late afternoon till ? on Sat. June 20th.

Fellow Elk’s

It is my pleasure to announce the Elks Lodge 521, has fulfilled its pledge never to forget our Veterans. Our task to dedicate US 31 from Columbus, Indiana to Camp Atterbury has been achieved. Thanks to those of you who feel as we, to do all in our power to achieve a lasting tribute honoring those who have saved freedom and democracy for future generations as well as freeing foreign nations from tyranny, it can be said mission accomplished.

The plan of the Elks Lodge 521 is to hold a celebration inviting one and all on Flag Day June 14th. We will have in attendance local officials, the Atterbury post, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, State officials, Johnson County Officials and Elks Lodge Officials. The event will start with a flag ceremony and color guard at 1:00 P.M.

The speaker should plan on arriving at the above address by 1:00 P.M. on the 14th of June. We anticipate the ceremony to take one hour to accommodate those who wish to make comments. Following the memorial ceremony a cookout will be served consisting of Brats, Corn and drinks.
