Saturday Feb 3rd, West Shore Elks hosted their 31st Big Elk Fundraiser. Traditionally the Big Elk is the Lodge's 2nd highest fundraiser of the year. But 2024 was a record year and the well-attended event earned over $11,000, surpassing this years golf outing earnings.
The Big Elk is a reverse lottery. 249 tickets were sold and one by one, numbers are drawn and participants are eliminated from the drawing. The lucky last 10 contestants, earn money, starting with $100 and a top prize of $1000 to the last person standing. This year, the winner was the person who bought the very last ticket, just an hour before the event began.
There were also several gift baskets, two trips and a 43" smart TV up for raffle. Speedy tickets were sold, increasing chances for eager event goers to win money. There were also two 50/50 drawings, each of the winners received over $500. The optional buffet was scrumptious and kept the guests well fed.
