Thursday, August 4th West Shore Elks descended on Appalachian Harley Davidson in Mechanicsburg.
By invitation, West Shore Elks returned to Wing Madness after a 6 year hiatus. In 2017, Chef Joe and, then manger, Jami Allen got creative and took home several awards. These 2017 awards can be seen by the ATM machine in the Lounge.
2023 brought a windfall of creativity. Chef Joe and team created 4 new flavors
Cherries Jubilee – served with marinated cherries and ice cream
Apple Cobbler – served with a caramel sauce and yummy cobbler topping
Georgia Peach – sauce with made with ream peaches
Sweet Pretzel – the only dry rub.
The Lodge won “Most Original”. Thank you Chef Joe Koza for all of your hard work, and special thanks to everyone else that helped! Michelle Houser, Sharon Witter, Bill Witter, Bernie Kotilak, David Berriso, Pat, Kris Benedict, Antonio Palumbo, Tina Welch, Tom Welch, Jim Catlyn, Jon Williams, Denny Bohr, Greg Kruger, Doug Scrignilo, Jim Zima, Vickie Avireti, and Lola Henry and more.
Other winning Elk members was Brent Burger, owner of Redd’s BBQ, taking home the “Best of Carlisle” award.
The overall winner was a team in Harrisburg, “Sauce Boss”.
Past Exalted Rulers were also on hand, doing what they do best, promoting the attributes of Lodge #2257. The hosted a table with information about the Lodge, membership forms, and Lodge venue rental information. They also gave away American flags any kids that wanted them.
