Elks Lodge 501 Christmas Basket Program
On Friday, December 17, we assembled 216 Christmas baskets. The next morning, we began distribution of those baskets beginning at 7:30 am.
Many hands helped to make the 2010 Christmas Basket function a success. We especially thank the following: Jim Duncan and Cargill Inc.'s More to Share program for including us again this year; Matt Cline with Kehe Foods for providing much of the food for our baskets; and to the students of Franklin Technology Center for their canned food drive.
We have started making plans for our 2011 program. Watch this site and the ECHO for more information.
One of the oldest and largest charitable projects of the year is the Lodge's distribution of Christmas Baskets to the needy families of Joplin and surrounding areas. It is estimated that over the last one hundred years, well over one million dollars worth of services and gifts have been donated to Joplin families.
