We know that after graduation, Elks scholars continue to serve their communities. That is why we offer the Elks Alum of the Year Award, designed to recognize one outstanding Elks alumnus who has made a difference through volunteering or commitment to community.
"The Elks are like an extended family,” says 2006 MVS scholar Jimmy Tomczak, the 2011 Elks Alum of the Year. “We look out for each other and for those in need. Thanks to my Elks scholarship, in college I was able to focus on innovation and impact. My Elks scholarship was a springboard to my success in my entrepreneurial adventures."

The recipient of this award will receive formal recognition during the 2012 Elks National Convention in Austin, Texas, and a $500 grant to be donated to a charity of the alumnus’ choice. He or she will also serve as an honorary member of the Elks Scholar Advisory Board for one year.
To be eligible for the Elks Alum of the Year award, you must have graduated from your undergraduate university by December 31, 2011. In order to receive the award, you must be available to travel to Austin (all expenses paid for you and a guest) for the 2012 Elks National Convention from Friday, June 29, through Monday, July 2, 2012.
The 2012 Elks Alum of the Year application deadline has passed. The winner will be announced in mid-May. In the meantime, please click here to read about all the ways you can stay involved after college.
