How does the online donation process work?
It's easy! You'll be guided by an online donation wizard. Here are the steps you'll follow:
- First, you'll be asked if you have an existing online giving account. If this is your first online donation, select NO. (Although all of your online donations will be credited to your regular ENF account, your online account ID is different than your regular ENF account ID.) [STEP 1]
- If you're establishing a new account, you'll be asked for some general contact information: name, address, phone number, email address. You'll also be asked if you're a member of the Elks. [STEP 2]
- If you're a member of the Elks, you'll be asked if you have an Elks.org user name and password. If so, we can update your user profile to acknowledge you as an online contributor to the ENF. If you don't have an Elks.org user name and password, or if you'd rather not be acknowledged in this way, you'll be asked for your lodge number and membership number so we can make sure your account and your lodge are properly credited for your donation. - Next, you'll be given a chance to review the information you've submitted so far, and to select the amount of the donation you'd like to make. If you notice any errors, you can press the BACK or PREVIOUS button on your browser to make corrections. The amount of your online donation should be between $10 and $2,000. [STEP 3]
- Next, you'll be asked if we can thank you for your gift publicly on our web site. You'll also be acknowledged privately, of course, but we'd like to include your name on our list of recent online donors. Note that the amount of your gift will NOT be revealed. [STEP 3, cont.]
- Next, you'll be asked if your gift is a tribute in honor or memory of someone else. If so, you'll be taken to a form where you can specify the name of the person you're honoring, and also the name and address of the person to whom you'd like us to send an announcement of your gift. [STEP 4a]
- Finally, you'll be asked if you'd like to make your donation via credit card or check. If you select the credit card option you'll be taken away from the Elks.org web site to a secure server operated by Authorize.Net, a company that specializes in highly secure credit card transactions conducted via the Internet. If you elect to pay by check, a form will be displayed that you can print out and include with your payment. [STEP 4]
- If you're paying by credit card, the Authorize.net server will ask for your credit card number and expiration date. After you submit this information, the transaction will be processed immediately, and you'll be transferred back to the Elks.org servers. You should receive an email receipt within a few minutes.
- If you're paying by check, you'll receive an email notification when your check has been received.
