Salina, KS Lodge No. 718

Welcome to Lodge 0718, Salina, Kansas.

SAYING GOODBY TO SALINA LODGE #718

There are changes coming to Lodge #718.  The Officers and Directors have decided it is best to merge Lodge #718 with the Abilene Lodge.  Attendance at meetings the last couple of years have been seven members at the most, but most of the time not enough for a quorum.  Notices have been sent to members the last three months asking them to attend the meetings to discuss the future of the lodge.  Not enough showed up for a quorum, so the Officers/Trustees have decided to start the process of merging with the Abilene Lodge.  This is a three-step process.

1.  A Resolution to merge will be presented at the February 6th Lodge meeting.  If there is not a quorum, it will be presented at the next lodge meeting until there is a quorum.

2.  At the March 12th meeting, the members will be asked to vote on the merge.  Again, a quorum is required and if not a quorum at that meeting, it will be presented at the next meeting which has a quorum.

You will be receiving information as this process starts.

The merge process may take several months as financials, other things and Approval by GL needs to take place.

A LOOK BACK AT THE HISTORY OF LODGE #0718 (June 1901)

ELKS ORGANIZE.

Salina Lodge Instituted Here With Due Ceremony.

Salina Lodge No. 718, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks was organized here last night with due ceremony. The institution of the lodge was attended by large number of Elks from out of town and the meeting was generally enthusiastic and interesting.  The Emporia lodge, accompanied by over a hundred Elks from different towns in the state arrived on a special train from Emporia at 6:40 last evening.  The Elks brought with them the Second Regiment band and came with colors flying. A delegation of local Elks met the visitors at the train with the Salina Military band and escorted them up town to the Masonic Temple.

At 8 o'clock the Emporia lodge and their team, with over a hundred visiting Elks, assembled at the Masonic Temple for the initiation. Exalted Ruler, Dr. Folcannon conducted the work of the team and everything was done up in good style. Forty five candidates composed the class last evening and with this membership Salina Lodge No 718, was declared instituted.  The initiatory work was finished at 11:30 and the lodge proceeded to organize. The officers were elected and appointed as follows:

Exalted Ruler C. H. Branson; Esteemed Leading Knight J. O. Fritchie; Esteemed Royal Knight E. V. Tuttle; Esteemed Lecturing Knight G. W. Berg; Secretary, Charles Schwartz; Treasurer Charles Sampson; Tyler, Norbert Schwartz; Esquire, W. P. Pierce; Trustees, J. L. Jackson, John Lloyd and J. T. Merrill.

Following the installation of officers,  which took place immediately, the Elks adjourned to the banquet room where a spread was served.

Salina Lodge No. 718, organizes with a membership of  forty-five real members and over twenty-five prospective members who were unable to be present last evening.  The trustees of the lodge are good substantial business men and the future will undoubtedly be a prosperous one.  Steps will be taken immediately to secure quarters for the lodge.
