Jaycie Christopher of Madison, sponsored by the Skowhegan-Madison Lodge, won the girls age 8-9 division New England Regional Hoop Shoot championship on March 23 at Gorham Middle School. Henry Westphal, sponsored by the Portland Elks Lodge, won the boys age 10-11 division; and Isabel Dawson, also sponsored by the Portland Lodge, captured the girls’ 10-11 division.
Other Maine competitors were Sydney LeBlanc, sponsored by the Skowhegan-Madison Lodge, who finished third in the girls 12-13 division; Colby Esty, also sponsored by Skowhegan-Madison, who finished third in the 12-13 boys’ class; and Connor Marquis, sponsored by Sebasticook Valley Lodge of Pittsfield, who finished fifth in the age 8-9 boys division.
The Maine winners join their counterparts from the other New England states in the Elks National Hoop Shoot finals on Saturday, April 20 at the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass.
