Richmond Elks Lodge No. 1251 located in El Sobrante, CA has been selected by the El Sobrante Chamber of Commerce as their 2011 "Business of the Year". This is the second time Richmond Lodge has been so recognized. Richmond was previously selected as Business of the Year in 2006.
The Elks Lodge is a major participant and supporter of the El Sobrante Stroll street fair and community event. Use of the Lodge facility is provided for BSA Troop 146 every Thursday but especially for an extremely successful community pancake feed to start each year's El Sobrante Stroll.
Elks members help organize and participate in the operation of the Haunted House at te El Sobrante Boys & Girls Club.
Richmond Lodge's Charity Fund contributed to the El Sobrante history project, street light banners and town limit's welcoming signs.
Richmond Elks Lodge has provided sports programs and financial support for the El Sobrante Boys and Girls Club.
In addition to many scholarship awards, the members of Richmond Elks Lodge have given financial support to many schools, students and families of El Sobrante.
The Lodge facility has been made available for many community meetings and events including hosting the P-1 Planning public hearing on December 7, 2011.
The Lodge had its "Community" celebration of being in business for 100 years as part of its participation in the El Sobrante Stroll on September 18, 2011.
The receipt of this award is a crown jewel in Richmond Elks Lodge's year of celebration recogning 100 years of patriotic and charitable service to the children, veterans and senior citizens of West Contra Costa County.
