CONGRATULATIONS to a our newly initiated Member, Brother Jose J. Lopez proposed by Bro. Edward Pooley. He was initiated at our 20 August 2008 Lodge meeting. We hope to see him regularly at our forthcoming Lodge Meetings and also be active in our activities.
PROPOSITIONS for MEMBERSHIP have been received from Messers Joseph Quinlivan proposed by Bro. Doyle E. Stout, Charles M. Robinson proposed by Bro. Jeffery A. Green and Herbert John Betz III proposed by PER Theodore V. Awad.
AWAITING INVESTIGATION, ELECTION, INDOCTRINATION and INITIATION – Messrs Robinson and Betz III have been invited to our Membership/Fellowship Cocktail party, Thursday, 28 August at 6:00p.m.
If favorable reports are received they will be indoctrinated together with Mr. Quinlivan on Wednesday, 03 Sept at 1730hrs. then elected at the stated meeting and initiated immediately thereafter.
DEATHS - We regret to advise that we recently lost two Life Members Bros. Edmond Dayan on 16 Aug 2008 and Carlos D. Arguelles on 19 Aug 2008. A Lodge of Sorrow was held at our 20 Aug Lodge Meeting in their memory.
DUES 2008-2009 - Reminder : the next Status Report of our membership is fast approaching and if those who are currently delinquent do not act favorably, your name will be reported as such to the Grand Lodge in our periodic Membership Report.
We have posted the names of those delinquent on our Bulletin Board since 18 June 2008 and only 2 members out of 15 members have acted favorably. On 01 Nov. 2008 we must submit our Membership Status Report to the Grand Lodge. We hope we will not have to report any delinquencies.
Elks Membership/Fellowship Cocktail Nite – Thursday, 28 August 2008 (6–8p.m.) Let us all work together to attain our goal to increase our Membership; invite a prospective member and introduce our organization and Club Facility! Our Lodge success lies in your hands! Complimentary food and drinks will be served as our way of showing your guests the best of the Elks Club in a very informal atmosphere. You may be the lucky winner of our weekly cash prize raffle.

ELKS NATIONAL FOUNDATION (ENF) - We have recently received a printout of the contributions our current members have made including the date of their first gift, last gift with total amount todate. Informatively, Manila Lodge No. 761 first gift was made 10/25/1929 and has contributed USD38,238 till 03/07/2008. As such we regret that only 50 members out of 110 have ever contributed and 20 of them have not contributed since 2003.
Our Exalted Ruler at the recent Grand Lodge Convention in Anaheim, CA received our 17th Consecutive Best Grand Lodge Area Award from ENF.
We are almost at the halfway point of our 2008-2009 Annual ENF appeal and your contribution are below last year. Therefore for those who have not yet contributed we request that you please act favorably and for those who have already contributed this year perhaps reconsider the amount given and possibly increase same so that our beneficiaries will be much happier. On behalf of the beneficiary, we thank you in advance for your attention on the subject.
It would be appreciated that our members please send their dollar check contribution to Elks National Foundation, 2750 N. Lakeview Ave., Chicago, IL 60614-1889 or if contributing in pesos, please use Php45/US$1.00 rate of conversion and pass the Secretary’s office. We will issue our check to ENF and mail your contribution to the above stateside address.
