44th Trip to Georges Island

44th Annual Boat Trip to George’s Island

The Quincy lodge of Elks recently entertained Veterans from the local VA Hospitals in West Roxbury, Jamaica Plain, and the Chelsea Soldiers Home on George’s Island. A cook-out and tour of the island was enjoyed by all. Ted Naser, PER from Quincy Elks did most of the cooking and I must say did it well! He was assisted by Jim Folk, the current Exalted Ruler and Paul Tracey, PER. The District Deputy Designate Sean McArdle also helped with the preparations.
Acting as head waiter for the dignitaries present was PDD Guy Abruzzese, and did a fine job! Dignitaries present were PSDGER Joe Silvia and PSP Donald Podgurski, Rhonda Grayson and Mary were also present along with Paul Morin. The Veterans were treated to hamburgers, hot dogs, sausage and watermelon. T-shirts were distributed to the veterans on the return trip. The shirts were designed by Stephen and Deb Thompson and were donated by Ken and Carol Thompson and they were greatly appreciated by the Veterans.
A special thanks to Capt Sutherland and family, and his crew for their continued generosity for making all 44 trips and with his continued support for all hospitalized veterans, hope to see you all on the 45th trip next year.
