Hello to All
Many of the members who attended the State President’s dinner on August 4, 2007 have expressed their appreciation on how well the event went, including ECD VP Pollard and President Lake. I have received many comments regarding the beautiful decorations, the hors d'oeuvres, the dinner, and the service that we provided. I wish I had the space available in this newsletter to list the names of every member who either donated towards or brought hors d’oeuvres; devoted their valuable time to bartend; the members who, with the help of our sons and daughters, helped to serve dinner; our wonderful cooks who worked feverishly to get each dinner out, and those who took time out to help clean, arrange, and decorate the lodge in anticipation of the visit. The dinner would not have been as successful without the support of these dedicated members and I thank each of you all very much.
The during the month of September we will continue with our Tuesday Night Bingo, Wednesday Night Sandwiches, Spaghetti on Thursday; and Friday Night Snacks.
Speaking of Friday Night Snacks, I’d like thank the August sponsors who have helped the House Committee kick off this idea, which seems to be catching on. For those of you who are not familiar with this, here’s the PLAN: A member, a group of members, or a business can be a “sponsor” by providing a Friday night snack. The sponsor will furnish their choice of snacks or hors d’oeuvres that will be made available, at no charge, in the Lounge. Signage will be prepared with the name(s) of the sponsor(s) for that night in recognition of their contribution and effort. A Sign Up Sheet has been posted in the Dining Room, for those who are interested in being a Friday Night Snack Sponsor. If anyone has any questions please fell free to contact me. It has been suggested that donations would be welcomed to decrease the costs of plates, forks, and napkins.
Also in September I’d like to ask that our members considered attending a Fish Fry on Saturday, September 15, 2007. This Fish Fry is being offered in the fond memory of all our absent brothers and sisters. The dinner will be served between 6:30pm to 8:00pm with live entertainment (and Karaoke) to follow. The cost per tick is $7.00 advanced and $8.00 at the door. For tickets, please contact the members of the House Committee who will be happy to assist you. So please come and enjoy a nice dinner and music.
