MAY'S EXALTED RULER MESSAGE

We are a month into our new year and I am happy at the way things are going. On March 31st, we had our Installation Dinner at the Lodge. All of the new officers were sworn in and there was a great dinner afterwards. If you were not there, you missed a great time. I would like to thank all of the volunteers who helped made the night a great success. There was our District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler Phil Watercutter and his Esquire Mark Thompson who installed the officers. I would also like thank all the Past Exalted Rulers who had a hand in the installation. I would also like to thank Bob Sari, Christian Scherr, and everybody else in the kitchen that helped cooked and served dinner. Thanks to Cheryl who did a fantastic job decorating the social quarters. Finally I would like to thank Barbara Thompson not only for designing the program for the evening, she also took pictures of the event. I am posting those pictures on our Lodge website so be sure to check them out. I would also like to thank Ginny Nazworth. She is the person responsible for all those great posters at the Lodge and a lot of the art work in the Lodge Bulletin.

By the time you receive this bulletin, The State Softball tournament will be over. I wish to give thanks to all of our volunteers, especially our District Deputy Phil Watercutter. We could not have pulled it off if not for all of our volunteers. Thank you once again.

We have a lot of events for the month of May. On May 12th the Lodge has a bus trip planned to the Youth Camp in Umatilla. There is a sign up sheet on the Lodge bulletin board. If you have not been to the Elks Youth Camp, I would strongly suggest you sign up for the trip. You will not believe your eyes when you see the camp and the good it does for the children. Hurry and sign up before the bus is filled.

Our annual Mother's Day Service will be on May 13th at 1 PM. I would like to invite all of our members and their families to the service. This service is a tradition with the Elks and honors Mother's everywhere. There will be a light lunch after the service. I would like to see a full lodge room this year.

On May 19th is the annual East Central District PER Association’s Golf Tournament. If you love golf, you have to play in this tournament. Then at the end of May is the Florida State Elks Convention. It is being held in Orlando on May 24 to May 27. If you are planning on attending, you will need to register soon. More information on the convention can be found on the Florida State Elks website.

There will be no Lodge meeting on May 28. I have asked for and received a dispensation from District Deputy Phil Watercutter. May 28th is Memorial Day and the Monday following the Florida State Elks convention.

Mark your calendars for June 14th, Flag Day. The past few years Flag Day has been on the Sunday after June 14th. This year the officers of the Lodge will be holding the annual Flag Day service on Flag Day itself, which is on a Thursday. It will be held at 5:00 PM. Then after the service, you can stay and try Joe’s great spaghetti dinner.

All this is besides our weekly events like bar bingo on Tuesdays, Wednesday Night Sandwich night, Thursday Night Spaghetti Night and our Green Games on Friday nights.

Remember, this is your Lodge, come on down and enjoy all we have to offer. The House Committee needs your support to continue with all the functions they have planned.
