MARION, Ohio (10/5/04) – The New Marion Harding High School soccer field was the site for the second Marion Elks 32 Soccer Shoot competition. Several youngsters ages 7 through 13 competed in the September 4th soccer kicking contest. It is a two-stage contest designed to best represent the skill levels of the four age groups involved. This is the second year that the Marion Elks have sponsored this competition where youth can advance from the local level through district, state, regional and on to the national level. The local winners of each bracket advanced to the Elks North Central District Soccer Shoot Contest, which was held later in September in Bucyrus, OH.

In addition, Lizzie Martin won the Elks North Central District 12 &13 Girls Division, and advanced to the State competition where she earned a trophy for placing fifth.
The Marion Elks are pleased to bring the Elks National Soccer Shoot Program to Marion. “Our hats off to Greg Winger, Head Coach of Boys Varsity Soccer at Marion Harding, and his team for helping us to arrange and coordinate our soccer shoot,” said Keith Peppard, Exalted Ruler of the Marion Elks Lodge. “All Elks Youth Activities programs have the common goal of keeping children occupied with positive, character-building role models and activities, providing alternatives to drug use, and simply having fun.”
