To all members of Greybull Elks Lodge #1431:
It is my hope that our officers and members of Greybull Elks
Lodge #1431 have a happy, healthy and prosperous 2024. It seems we have
weathered the frigid artic blast of early January and possibly warmer weather
is approaching. We could use a little snow as it sounds like our snow
pack in the Big Horn Basin and surrounding mountain ranges is not as it should
be for this time of year.
As always with a new year, I offer my deepest sympathy for those
families who have lost loved ones this past year. Those friends and relatives
that have passed will always be remembered and held close to our hearts.
Once again our holiday events were a great success and I want to
thank all our elks members and officers who helped volunteer to bring joy and
happiness to those who were on the receiving end.
We delivered more gifts this Christmas then what we have in the
past asking for donations that we give to the Wyoming Retirement Center and the
Sheridan Veterans Hospital. There were many items too numerous to mention that
were well received and welcomed for those folks who reside in both
institutions. I would like to personally thank the Burlington Public Schools
for donating items for the WRC as well as our local members who donated items
for the Sheridan VA. Thank you so much, you warmed the hearts of many as
well as making a brighter Christmas for them as well.
Our 2023 Elks Christmas Basket Delivery for those less fortunate
was a big success as we substituted "Grocery Cards" for the Christmas
baskets this year. Our logic behind the "Grocery Cards" was that
those recipients may need other food items that they could purchase with the
card, on their own, that may not be included in the Christmas Baskets
that we originally provide. That some recipients can by soup,
bread, potatoes or other food staples that may last longer then one
Christmas meal. Your lodge provided for 26 recipients of the "Grocery
Cards" totaling $2400 dollars. Lynn's Supermarket dontated $400 towards
these cards with $2000 awarded to us in a "Home Town Grant" given us
by the Elks National Foundation. Your
ENF donations through your lodge membership helps us to secure this grant with
in turn provides us to fund lodge donations throughout our community. Thank
you.
Our building projects are slowly taking shape as keeping a
"100" year old building looking "75" is constant. We
have redone our kitchen, bathroom, and bathroom hall floor with epoxy flooring.
They look fantastic!! We have refurbished our dishwasher in the
kitchen, as well as installing new LED lighting. If you have not
visited our lodge recently, please do, it looks really good, with more to come.
We are in the process of installing new LED lighting and other
'amenities' throughout the lodge. Rocky Mountain Power and Jade Co. will
provide the work and installation. Total project cost: $5878, RMP
Discount: $4408, Elks Cost:$1469. Our 'amenities' that we will purchase are,
lighted exit signs, alley light, dimmer switches, Elks lighted sign, at a cost
of $1744. This project is 75% discounted, with your Elks lodge responsible for
25%, cost totaling $3213. As an added bonus we will save $997 in
electrical costs per year.
We work diligently to stretch your membership money and continue
to provide service to our community along with keeping our lodge building
structure and internal working structure functional and operational. Your
membership is highly valued. Please remember that the Greybull Elks Lodge is your
lodge as well as its ER, officers and trustees. We highly encourage you
to not only be a dues paying member, but also an interactive member, who
frequents the lodge, patronizes the lodge, volunteers within the lodge and also
helps determine it's present and future course.
We would like to thank all of our current members for their
financial support and also those who volunteer their time and effort with our
many activities and building projects. Without your financial support,
physical help and personal commitment to the lodge, we would cease to exist.
