July ER Corner

Greetings My fellow Elk Members:

What a busy month of June we had. We held our Flag Day Ceremony on the 13th. I want to thank Bob Tiegs for being the MC for this. We had a nice picture in the Press & Standard showing off some of our boy scouts from Troop 464. On the 14th we supplied a supper meal for the Carpenters for Christ at Bennett’s Point. I want to thank everyone who volunteered their time and supported this event. This was a great opportunity for giving back to the community. We are getting a lot of applications for new members and reinstatements. The word is getting out about the great work our Lodge is doing.

Currently we have 56 members on the Delinquent List. We have initiated 14 new members into our Lodge this year. This is the best year that we have had in a long time. We want to keep up the good work making your Lodge grow. The month of July looks to be busy also. We have 10 members that will be attending the Elk National Convention in Tampa this year. I want to thank these members for making plans to go. There will be classes during the day that they will attend to find out more things that they can do to help our Lodge grow. Also we will be talking to other Lodges and getting ideas from them.

I want to thank the members that will be stepping up to work at the club on the 4th of July so that we can have the club open to celebrate the 4th. There will be fireworks. I don’t like the convention being on the 4th of July, but this will give our hard-working House Committee members a much-needed break from the Lodge. We have a lot of members doing so much in the Lodge.

I want to thank Paul Pye, Stewart Goodwin, Mark McRoy, K.C. Campbell, and many others that have worked on Tuesday nights serving meals. This group raised enough money to purchase a new stove for the kitchen. I have heard that our kitchen puts out the best food in town. I do believe this. However, it takes a lot of volunteers to do this work. If you would like to help in the kitchen, please let us know.

It looks like it’s going to be a HOT summer. I want everyone to be safe. Check in on our elderly members and make sure that they are ok. I know that a lot of members have boats.I challenge you to be extra careful on the water. Please do not drink and drive your boat. Have a designated driver.

Again, thank you for supporting your Lodge. I am proud to be your Exalted Ruler.
