13th Annual 2013 Tournament Report
The 13th Annual Dudley Henry Memorial Golf Tournament The 13th Annual Dudley Henry Memorial Golf Tournament was a success once again. It was a great day with wonderful weather. We had 26 teams and 45 hole sponsors and I want to say "THANK YOU' for your support to the Children's Care Corp. I also want to thank the businesses and individuals that supported the tournament with prize donations and hole sponsors. I want to give Patti & Bob Hahn a great big "THANK YOU" for all their help. Once again if it wasn't for Patti we wouldn't have had most of the nice door prizes that were given away. I also want to thank Patti for taking pictures of all the golfers and had them printed for everyone and for doing anything and everything else that needed to be done. I also want to say "THANK YOU" to all the ladies and men who registered golfers, sold tickets, drove the drink carts, cooked the food, put hole sponsor signs out & picked them up, cleaned up and anything else that needed to be done. We have some really great people in this lodge that help and without them this wouldn't be possible. Another big "THANK YOU' to Insurance Partnership for providing the food at the golf course. "THANK YOU" Dale, Stephanie and crew for the delicious chicken dinner after the tournament at the lodge. 12th Annual 2012 Tournament Report
The 12th Annual Dudley Henry Memorial Golf Tournament was a success once again. We had 24 teams and 45 hole sponsors and I want to say "Thank You" for your support to the Children's Care Corp. 11th Annual 2011 Tournament Report
The 11th Annual Dudley Henry Memorial Golf Tournament was a success once again. In spite of the 7am rain storm the clouds soon cleared away and the weather was perfect. We had 23 teams and 48 hole sponsors and I want to say "Thank You" for your generous support for such a worthy cause. We don't have the final totals yet but we should have a very nice amount to donate to the Childrens Care Corp. I want to give a GREAT BIG THANK YOU to Patti Hahn for all of her help. If it wasn't for Patti we wouldn't have had most of the nice door prizes that were given away. I also want to thank Patti for taking pictures of all the golfers and doing anything else that needed to be done. 10th Annual 2010 Tournament Report
The 10th Annual Dudley Henry Memorial Golf Tournament was a huge success again. The weather couldn't have been better and I think everyone had a good time. We had 22 teams and 39 hole sponsors and I want to say "Thank You" for your generous support for such a worthy cause. I'm sure Dudley is proud of our lodge. As you all know Graham Updike has worked so hard for years on this tournament. He faithfully got donations for the door prizes every year. It is a hard and time consuming job but this year was his last. I want to give a "SPECIAL THANK YOU" to Graham for his many years of help with this tournament. I don't know if we can fill his shoes next year but we will certainly try. If anyone would like to help out please let me know. I want to say "Thank You" to Patti Hahn for all of her help. 9th Annual 2009 Tournament Report
The Dudley Henry Memorial Golf Tournament was a success again this year. The weather co-operated and the turn out was fantastic. I hope everyone had a good time. We had a record 23 teams this year. I really appreciate all of your support for such a good cause and I'm sure Dudley is smiling and very proud of our lodge. We had 48 Hole Sponsors. I know at this time money is tight but our Hole Sponsors came through once again and we want to say "Thank You” for your generous contributions. I want to give a "SPECIAL THANKS" to Graham Updike for all his work getting the door prizes. It's a big job and he would like to get a helper for next year. If anyone is interested please let him know. A big "Thank You" to Patti Hahn, Tom Walsh, and Lou Logullo for all your help in getting the Hole Sponsors. Brief History
Dudley joined the Centralia Elks Lodge in 1993 and after going through the chairs, served as ER for the 98-99 Lodge year. While a Lodge Trustee, He passed away suddenly in March of 2001 at the age of 56. Dudley knew from a personal experience how important the then named Ill Elks Crippled Childrens' Corporation was and what it meant to the Families it reached. About the time Dudley was 15 years old he lost an older brother from injuries he had received on the school playground at an earlier age. He suffered a crippling lower back injury and went from being on crutches, to a wheel chair, then bed ridden, and eventually death, all over a period of time. After joining the Elks the then ILL Elks Crippled Children's Corporation was very near and dear to Dudley because of his personal experience. Upon Dudley's passing, memorials totaling $4,000 were donated to the IE CCC on his behalf. It was shortly thereafter the Lodge voted to change the name of the Annual Golf Tournament fund raiser for IE CCC to the Dudley Henry Memorial Golf Tournament. Proceeds from the Tournament enable the IE CCC to provide medical and financial help to Illinois residents under the age of twenty-one and their families. Donations also support students seeking degrees in the fields of physical and occupational therapy. In 2008 the Corporation underwent a name change to Illinois Elks Children's Care Corporation. The name change did not affect the existing programs. In fact, the name change will enable the IE CCC to reach more children and their families by symbolizing a clearer description of what it represents.
