History of Severna Park No. 2482

- Late 1971 - Annapolis and Glen Burnie, Maryland Elks residing in the Severna Park area were notified of efforts to organize an Elks lodge in the Severna Park area - January 11, 1972 - First organizational meeting - June 1972 - Application for a Charter was applied for and granted. To be known as the Severna Park Lodge No. 2482 - October 14, 1972 - Instituted and the Charter membership consisted of 202 members, who either became members by demit or initation - December 9, 1972 - Dedication ceremonies - May 4, 1973 - Purchased a 6.294 acre plot of ground consisting of a converted two-story farm house at the corner of Truck House and Jennings Roads in Severna Park - 1974 - Built a 30 foot by 60 foot pavilion on the property - 1979 - A 20 foot by 20 foot outside storage building was completed - 1981 - The Grand Lodge granted approval for the Lodge to sell up to $100,000 in bonds to be used in constructing a new Lodge home - January 1983 - Building permit was granted - February 20, 1983 - Held groundbreaking ceremony - July 11,1983 - Occupancy permit for the completed building was received - August 6, 1983 - Building dedication; The Home to be used as a combination Lodge hall and meeting room - 1989 - A 1,600 square foot storage building was constructed, a large part of which was built by the members - May 15, 1989 - Contract was signed to construct a 50 foot by 80 foot members building - July 9, 1989 - Groundbreaking ceremony was held - 1990 - Dedication ceremony for the members building was held - 1995 - The parking area was paved - March 23, 2001 - Grand Exalted Ruler Dwayne E. Rumney's Offical visit - April 1, 2001 - A motion was passed to become a non-smoking facility - June 15, 2006 - A 16 x 30 Grounds Equipment Storage Bldg was completed.
