Featured Director - Bill Ferrick, Massachusetts

What’s the key to being a great Hoop Shoot Director?

“Read the rule book and stick to it!” says Hoop Shoot Director, Bill Ferrick.

And he should know.

Ferrick, a member of Haverhill, Mass., Lodge No. 165, has volunteered with the Hoop Shoot since 1976. This is his 30th year as Massachusetts’ State Director.

An Elk for Life

A loyal Elk for 49 years, Ferrick stays actively involved in the activities of his Lodge, even in the off-season.

When asked why he’s remained an Elk all these years, his answer is plain and simple:

“I’m an Elk for all the good Elks do and, of course, for the Hoop Shoot!”

Through the Elks National Hoop Shoot Free Throw Program, the Elks National Foundation teaches kids the values of hard work and good sportsmanship. In 2012-13, the ENF allocated $748,055 to fund this program. For more information on the Hoop Shoot, visit www.elks.org/hoopshoot.
