Featured Director - Lynn Rutherford-Snow, Virginia

Lynn Rutherford-Snow joined the Elks 15 years ago because she wanted to be more involved in her community. The Hoop Shoot has helped her do just that! Snow, a member of Charlottesville, Va., Lodge No. 389, has served her town as Local Hoop Shoot Director for 12 years. This is her fourth year as a State Director.

Snow Knows No Season

In her spare time, Snow pursues several hobbies including photography, scrapbooking, cake-decorating and gardening. She is also actively involved at her church and in her Lodge’s veterans’ service projects.

“I’m people person,” explains Snow. “And being an Elk is all about serving people!”

Looking Forward

As she plans this year’s Hoop Shoot, Snow is eager to see what each contest will bring.

“I love the children who participate in Hoop Shoot,” says Snow. “It’s a joy to see their excitement when they compete, and the families I meet are great.”

Snow’s advice to other Hoop Shoot Directors this season:

"Stay in touch and help each other whenever possible. Elks who work together have the most successful contests!"

Through the Elks National Hoop Shoot Free Throw Program, the Elks National Foundation teaches kids the values of hard work and good sportsmanship. In 2012-13, the ENF allocated $748,055 to fund this program. For more information on the Hoop Shoot, visit www.elks.org/hoopshoot.
