Elks Scholars Serve Our Nation's Capital

Elks scholars are headed to Washington, D.C.! Fifteen Elks scholars from all over the country will spend their spring break serving our nation’s capital along with two ENF staff members. Scholars will have the opportunity to learn about societal issues, serve in the name of the Elks, and to connect with their Elks family on the trip. Funded by the Elks National Foundation, the Spring Elks Scholar Service Trip will take place March 6-12.

The scholars will work with Youth Service Opportunities Project to serve with different local organizations each day. Their service will benefit individuals experiencing food insecurity and those who lack adequate housing. In addition to their service each day, the scholars will get the opportunity to cook and share a meal with up to 40 guests experiencing homelessness one night of the trip.

On Friday, March 11, after enjoying some of the sites of the D.C. area, scholars will serve our nation’s veterans at the V.A. The group will end the trip by serving and sharing a meal at the Arlington-Fairfax, Va., Lodge No. 2188.

The Lodge will host a dinner for guests and their families sponsored by the Aleethia Foundation which supports wounded warriors. The scholars will get to connect with their Elks family, as well as active military personnel, at this special event.
