ACTIVITIES FOR TOUR ENJOYMENT A wide range of activities are available within the Desert Hot Springs area for the enjoyment of visitor: Bicycle riding. Golf. Hiking. Horseback riding. Riding in a balloon. Shopping. Shuffleboard. Sightseeing. Spa’s with Hot Mineral Water (therapeutic). Sunning. The Palm Springs Tram, you can see all the valley here. Tennis. Museums, theater, concerts and other cultural events are also available in the area. Cabots Pueblo Museum, this 35-room adobe was built entirely by one man, Cabot Yerxa, is considered to be the first homesteader in the area. L. W. Coffee, in 1932, was coaxed by Cabot Yerxa to move in to develop and sell land. July 12, 1941, L. W. Coffee claimed to be the originator, founder, and developer of Desert Hot Springs. And within 30 miles easy reach of the Desert Hot Springs community: Joshua Tree National Park. Pioneer Town, where western movies were made in the 30’ and 40’ is still active as a tourist attraction.
