Charlie Cook Memorial Scholarship Cover Letter

The Charlie Cook Memorial Scholarship For Children of Elks or Firemen Charlie Cook was a consummate volunteer. He had been the Captain and head driver for the Phil Daly Hose Co. of the Long Branch Volunteer Fire Dept. Charlie also served as a Member for the many other companies in the Long Branch Volunteer Fire Department, Monmouth Beach Fire Dept. and Port au Peck Chemical Hose Fire Co. Charlie was also a Captain at the Pine Brook Fire Co. Charlie was an Elks member most of his life volunteering at both the Long Branch Elks and Eatontown Elks Lodges. Charlie Cook was the kind of man that gave completely of himself without reservation. This scholarship began as a way to memorialize a man that was completely selfless, someone that continually gave of himself to such organizations as the fire houses he volunteered in, the Elks, and the Green and White Association. Where ever he was needed, Charlie was there to help. In an effort to reward students that exemplify the principles and ideals of Charlie Cook, his friends in combination with the Long Branch Elks Lodge #742 have created this scholarship to award 2 students yearly with $500.00 each in hopes of helping them offset the expenses of college/trade school. Application Deadline: April 12, 2016 Contact Info: Long Branch Elks Lodge #742 Attn: Ricky Gallo 150 Garfield Ave. Long Branch, NJ 07740
