A Look At Your Secretary - Bill Wiseman, PER

Bill has been a member of Elkdom since October 2003. He is married to Mela, his lovely wife of 29 years. They moved to Las Vegas in 1998. They have three daughters and two grandsons scattered between California, Arizona and Michigan. Bill has owned and operated his own Consulting and Control Systems business since 1980. Over his career he has worked, lived and/or traveled in over 45 countries and 40 states.

Lodge year 2004-2005 started with Bill preparing the installation dinner for the new officers and guest. He held the position of Tiler for the last three quarters of the year while filling in at various times as Lecturing Knight and Inner Guard. He was involved with a number of the Committees and Community Service Projects. He became Chairman of the Parking Lot Committee late 2004 and completed the parking lot project in February 2005. He and his wife also assisted with cooking for Friday night dinners, special occasions and Officers Brunch. He was awarded Elk of the Month for the months of May and December 2004. Bill received Officer of the Year for 2004-2005.

Lodge year 2005-2006 found Bill holding the office of Leading Knight, Youth Activities Chairman, State Major Projects (Blue Pig) Chairman and actively involved on the Hoop Shoot and Soccer Shoot Committees and a number of Community Service and Lodge functions. Bill was appointed Chairman of a Special Investigating Committee to deal with statutes violations. He assumed responsibility for the publishing of the Bulletin in October and getting the Articles of Incorporation written and approved. He and his wife also cook for Friday night dinners, special occasions and Officers Brunch.

Lodge year 2006-2007 found Bill holding the office of Exalted Ruler, Chairman of Hides and the Pig Roast Committees (State Major Project Fund raiser), and Co-Chairman of the Lodge 10th Anniversary Party. He continued on Chairing the Special Investigating Committee resolving the statute violations and was actively involved in many of the Lodge and Community activities. He assisted with the judging of the state MVS Scholarships and the National Americanism Essay Contest. He was responsible for publishing the Bulletin. Through Bill's leadership the Lodge had a net gain in membership, was first place in ENF per capita and Chairman's Challenge for the state of Nevada and with the help of the Trustees and the Lodge Secretary was able to bring the Lodge back in line with the statutes and auditing guidelines. With his motto of "One Elk Can Make a Difference" much progress was made during the year. Bill received Officer of the Year for 2006-2007. He and his wife continued to cook for Friday night dinners, special occasions and Officers Brunch.

Lodge year 2007-2008 found Bill repeating the office of Exalted Ruler, completing the Lodge Incorporation, Chairman of the By-Laws Committee, Chairman of Hides and the Pig Roast Committees (State Major Project Fund raiser), and Co-Chairman of the 2007-2008 NSEA State Convention Committee. His motto for the year was "A Year of Growth". He and his wife both started their retirement years and continued to cook for Friday night dinners, special occasions and Officers Brunch.

Lodge year 2008-2010 found Bill holding the offices of Secretary, Government Relations Coordinator, Indoctrination/Orientation Coordinator, Webmaster, PER Association Secretary and a seat on the Standing Relief Committee. Bill holds the positions of NSEA State Coordinator, NSEA Business Practices Chairman South, NSEA Citizen of the Year Committee Chairman and NSEA Webmaster. He is also appointed as the Nevada State CLMS Coordinator and Auditor to the 2009-2010 District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler.

When he finds leisure time you will find him enjoying the company of brother and sister Elks at the Lodge Lounge. Bill is an excellent example of what one Elk can do by volunteering time and service to Elkdom.
