Sweet Home, OR 1972

Awards for 20-21

Citizen of the Year Hope Coulter
This award is Given to Someone in the Community that has made outstanding contributions not just to the Elks

Hope Coulter is not only active at our lodge but also in the community. She is very active in delivering meal to the home bound through Meal on Wheels. In conjunction with the VFW, Hope and her family have helped place flags in the community. Hope has returned as President of the Elkettes, she does the shopping for breakfast and is there to help serve. She spearheaded the Free Thanksgiving dinner for over 300 people working closely with our partner, The Point Restaurant. She helped getting the dinner together, shopping, organizing the volunteers. Hope does all of the above and more in the community, she keeps a positive attitude while working with other volunteers.

Elk of the Year Duane Winslow
Duane is very deserving of this award. He is a life member of the Sweet Home Lodge. Most of the time, Duane is in the back ground doing things for our lodge and is always willing to jump in without hesitation. He is at the lodge early in the morning helping the kitchen crew prep for breakfast. He comes early and stays late to help with whatever is needed. With Roger and Jerry he was involved in finishing the sheetrock upstairs, and part of that same crew who built our handicap ramp for the weight room. He served on our scholarship committee this year and is always asking what he can do! Thank you Duane.

Officer of the Year Kurt Gates
Kurt will not turn away from a challenge. Being an officer takes a lot of commitment and Kurt is taking it head on. He says it is hard for him to speak in front of people, but he is getting more comfortable doing so.
He attends all meetings, including board meetings. He is one of the early ones for breakfast. He participates in as many activities as he possibly can. He is learning about what it takes to be an officer and is willing to keep learning.

THANK YOU VOLUNTEERS!
Your lodge would like to thank all of you who helped this past year. 2020-2021 Year was a challenge for all of us. The lodge is no exception. There were many people who continued to volunteer throughout the year. There was maintenance done, financial responsibilities, grants written and monies distributed, scholarships awarded, water leaks and equipment fixed. Many of you did not even see each other in passing but a lot of people were there. So to all of you who pitched in THANK YOU ALL!

THANK YOU to everyone who continued paying dues. Even though we were closed or limited most of the year that also helped keep us alive! Elkdom is strong.

God Bless,
Exalted Ruler, Randy Claasen
