How to Join the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks

To be eligible for membeship in the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, you must be a citizen of the United States, over the age of 21, and believe in God.

A candidate for membership must be sponsored by a member in good standing of the Florence Elks Lodge and reside in the jurisdiction of the Lodge that the candidate wishes to join. The candidate will also need to have two additional co-sponsors.

The sponsoring member will request an Application for Membership from the Lodge Secretary and complete the required portions. The application will then be given to the candidate to complete and list two co-sponsors.

The application will be read aloud during a Lodge Meeting and then turned over to the Investigating Committee. The Investigating Committee will then perform a background investigation and report back to the Lodge.

If the investigation comes out positively the candidate will then be voted on by the Members of the Lodge. The candidate will be notified of the voting results by the Lodge Secretary, and if elected will also be notified of when his/her initiation will occur.

If for any reason the Aplication for Membership is denied, the applicant can not re-apply for a period of six months.
