Asher’s Story

My name is Asher Williams and I live in Bonners Ferry, Idaho with my older brother, two younger sisters, and my parents. I want to thank the Elks National Hoop Shoot for putting on this fun and challenging event. My dad and I practice a lot, but it doesn't matter how much I practice I still get nervous during the competitions. My dad reminds me to work hard and then give it to God. This helps me settle down and relax as much as possible. Through this experience I have learned that I have a lot of support from my school. I love living in a small town, but the challenge is that it only has a few gyms. I've learned that the best time to get in the gym is in the morning before school starts. I realized that I have a lot of support from my school, both teachers and students. Everyone is very nice. I love shooting baskets, playing with my friends, and being with my family. My favorite quote is, "hard work beats talent, when talent doesn't work hard." Thank you for reading my story and I look forward to the next competition.
