"It is an extremely humbling experience to have made it to the national level of the Elks Most Valuable Student competition; it is a very proud experience for me to be able to represent the B.P.O. Elks throughout my college education."

Cornerstone Grants

Do you regularly volunteer in your community? Would you like additional funding to enhance your service project?

We know that as an Elks scholar, you already uphold the four cornerstones of the Foundation: knowledge, integrity, charity and community. Now, we want to help you do more! That is why the ENF is offering Cornerstone Grants to Elks scholars and alumni interested in expanding their community service projects.

Click here for a list of 2009-10 Cornerstone Grant recipients!

Eligibility:

  • Elks scholars or alumni interested in serving their community in a meaningful way are eligible to apply. To be eligible for the 2009-10 Cornerstone Grant, you must have been awarded your ENF Scholarship in or before 2008.
Criteria:

  • Scholars may request up to $500 to be used toward expanding or initiating a community service project.
  • Applications will be judged on the proposed community service project, evidence of past community service and general community involvement.
  • Community service is defined as any effort that addresses an unmet need in the community, through which an Elks scholar is directly engaged and interacting with the community. This service should be results driven.
  • Scholars must demonstrate meaningful involvement in their community service initiative. This grant cannot be used as a donation to an organization.
  • Grant funds can be used to enhance an individual community service effort or to participate in another organization’s efforts, i.e. Habitat for Humanity.
General Grant Information:

  • Scholars must submit their completed application by May 15, 2009.
  • Grant applications will be reviewed, and winners will be announced June 15, 2009. All applicants will be notified of their application status by email at this time.
  • Grant funds will be disbursed to applicants upon receipt of completed acceptance form.
  • All grant funds must be used, and final report (with photos) must be submitted, by June 1, 2010.
The deadline for 2009-10 applications has passed. Please contact us in March 2010 for next year's application!
