LYNCHBURG, Va. - Students are starting to hit the books again and one local organization is giving them extra supplies to succeed.

The Lynchburg Salvation Army held its back-to-school giveaway Monday night. They gave away everything from backpacks and paper to crayons and erasers to dozens of our area's youth.

"This year we were very gracious to have the Elk's Lodge actually had a $2,500 grant that they went out and purchased school supplies for these children and so we"ll give school supplies to about 70 to 100 kids," said Salvation Army commanding officer Donald Dohmann.

The Salvation Army says it will resupply students with materials again after Christmas.
