by Genny Humphreys
Public Relations Chairperson Bedford Elks Lodge 2844
Bedford Elks Lodge 2844 handed out drug awareness literature and balloons to youth and their parents at Bedford's Centerfest on September 24th. Pictured with "Elroy the Elk", mascot of the Elks worn by 17-year-old Derrick Dinwiddie of Bedford (not a member of the Elks himself), are, left to right: Nate Thomson (age 11), Kiersten Thomson (age 9); "Elroy"; Paula Dixon, Drug Awareness Chair of the Bedford Elks; and Carol Breitinger, Leading Knight of the Bedford Elks. The drug awareness literature includes brochures on various abuse substances and a coloring book for younger children; this educational material is also available to local teachers for use in their classrooms. Materials are printed, funded and distributed to local Elk Lodges by the Elks National Foundation. Photo by Carl A. Breitinger
